The interview process

As PwC UK describes it for early careers.1

  1. Online application

Follow instructions carefully, proofread, and be precise about your academic results: PwC checks them later.

  2. Online assessments

An unassessed activity called "Bringing our values to life", then two timed tests on SHL: a behavioural assessment of your natural preferences at work, and a cognitive assessment of numerical, inductive and deductive reasoning.

  3. Video interview

Questions appear on screen and you record your answers, which assessors review afterwards.

  4. Virtual assessment centre

The penultimate stage, assessing the core skills and attributes PwC needs, and showing you what it's like to work there.

  5. Business assessmentGraduate roles

A recruiter calls about your matched business area and office, then a senior leader interviews you in person at that office.

  6. Offer

Feedback, then pre-employment screening and onboarding.

Questions to expect

Based on what each PwC stage assesses.

Video interview

Why PwC, and why this business area?

Tell me about a time you had to adapt when plans changed.

Tell me about a time you worked with people very different from you.

Senior leader interview

What's a business story in the news that matters to our clients, and why?

Where do you see yourself in three years at PwC?

How to prepare

  1. Get comfortable with reasoning tests. Numerical, inductive and deductive, under time pressure.
  2. Rehearse for a camera, not a person. The video interview is recorded, so get used to answering crisply with no one nodding back.
  3. Know your business area and office before the senior leader interview.
  4. Be exact about your grades. PwC verifies them.1

Quick answers

Is PwC's video interview live?

No. Questions appear on screen and you record your answers for assessors to review later.

What tests does PwC use?

A behavioural assessment and a cognitive assessment (numerical, inductive and deductive reasoning), both on SHL.

What is PwC's final stage for graduates?

A business assessment: a call about your business area and office, then an in-person interview with a senior leader.1
