The interview process

As Deloitte UK describes it for graduates and apprentices.1

  1. Online application~15 min

Personal details and qualifications. Graduates typically need a 2:1 or above.

  2. Immersive online assessment

A behavioural part (realistic workplace scenarios and working-style questions) and a cognitive part (numerical and verbal reasoning, some timed). No overall time limit, and you get feedback afterwards.

  3. Job simulation

Work-based scenarios with rankings, written answers and video responses, covering problem-solving, decision-making and responsible AI thinking. No AI experience needed.

  4. Final stage

Two exercises, in person for graduates and apprentices.

    • Topic discussion (30–40 min). A two-way conversation with an assessor, which you must prepare for beforehand.
    • Skills and motivation interview (~50 min). How you fit Deloitte's capabilities and why you want to join.
  5. Outcome

If unsuccessful, you can apply again in the next September-to-August cycle.

Questions to expect

Based on what each Deloitte stage assesses.

Skills and motivation interview

Why Deloitte, and why this service line?

Tell me about a time you made a decision without all the information.

Tell me about a time you learned something new quickly.

Topic discussion

How might AI change the work of the team you're applying to, and what are the risks?

How to prepare

  1. Go with your gut on the behavioural questions, rather than second-guessing what Deloitte wants.
  2. Find a quiet space for the job simulation's video responses.
  3. Prepare the topic properly. It's mandatory, and the discussion is two-way.
  4. Use the free Candidate Zone and avoid paid prep sites that claim to be official.
  5. Read Deloitte's Integrity & AI guidance before you start.1

Quick answers

How long does Deloitte take to give results?

Within four weeks for the online assessment and the job simulation.

Can I reapply to Deloitte if I'm unsuccessful?

Yes, in the next intake year. You can apply once per September-to-August cycle.1
