Wise customer support interview guide
How Wise hires for customer support: its all-roles process of a Recruiter phone call, then a meet-the-team interview that assesses values fit.
About Wise
Wise Group plc is listed as "Nasdaq: WSE; LSE: WISE". Kristo Käärmann is its Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer.1 In the year to 31 March 2026 (FY26), Wise reported a "21% increase in active customers to 19 million" and cross-border volume up 31% to $243 billion. It also reported "Net revenue of $2.5 billion, up 19% YoY" and income before tax of $660.4 million, a 26% margin. Customers were "now holding $39 billion (+40% YoY)" and had "spent $44 billion on their Wise cards (+37% YoY)".1
As of 31 March 2025, Wise had 6,520 employees. The largest group, 4,136 people, worked in "Servicing (including Customer Support, Operations)". On the same date, 4,392 employees were in Europe, Middle East and Africa; the filing gives no separate UK figure.2 Wise's careers site lists 11 key office locations, and London is the only one in the UK: "Our office is in the heart of Shoreditch."3
Wise's Customer Support careers page says the team helps customers over email, phone, social media and chat, and passes customer insights to Product teams. Teams cover business and consumer products and work varied shifts across several office locations and time zones.4
The interview process
As Wise's careers site describes it. This is Wise's general hiring process for all roles on wise.jobs, not one written for customer support: the Customer Support careers page links to it rather than describing a separate process.4, 5
Wise says "The exact process will differ between teams but your Recruiter can give you more information when you speak with them."6
- Apply
Wise asks you to "tell us a bit about why you want to join the team, why you'd be a great fit for the role" and to "upload your resume and cover letter".5 "Your application will be reviewed by a Recruiter against the requirements of the role." Wise says "We'll do our best to get back to you within a week of your application", but "for high volume roles this can be slightly longer".6
- Recruiter callPhone
"Your first touchpoint will be one of our friendly Recruiters. This will be a phone conversation where we will ask a few questions about your experience and motivations."7 Wise adds that the Recruiter will "ask a bit about your experience, motivations and knowledge of Wise and tell you some more about the role and next steps."5
- Meet the team
Wise calls this "an opportunity for you to meet those you'll be working with, including team members and your Lead". They give you "more details about the role, what your day-to-day looks like and the impact you can have." Expect "a series of open-ended questions and scenario based questions, to get to know your decision making process and how you like to work." Wise says "Our teams will also be assessing for values fit."7
- Format. "Many of our interviews take place over Zoom, but you may also be asked to meet us in person in one of our offices during the interview process." If you'd prefer to meet in person, "just ask your Recruiter and we will do our best to accommodate". If you need accommodations, contact your Recruiter.7
- Possible task. "Depending on what role you have applied for, in some cases you might be asked to complete a case study, take home challenge or technical test". If so, "Your Recruiter will prepare you with all the information you need to know and share a detailed brief for you to follow."7
- Offer
"Our teams will come together and review all of the feedback throughout the interview process. If you're the best candidate for the position, your recruiter will reach out with an offer."8 After the interview, "your Recruiter will be in touch to discuss the next steps and feedback", but "due to company policy, we unfortunately can't provide specific written feedback to you about your interview."7
Wise's policy on AI in recruitment sets general expectations, and "The recruiter can provide any specific instructions for how AI can be used for each role. If in doubt, please check with them". It says "Deploying live AI assistants/prompters during video interviews is prohibited", and fully AI-generated cover letters, application answers or CVs are not permitted, though using AI to format and check your CV is. For take-home assessments and case studies, it asks you to "Be transparent about how you used AI to arrive at your solution". It also says "AI does not make hiring or rejection decisions at Wise".9
The only role-specific detail comes from one expired listing: a Customer Support Associate (1-year FTC) role in Singapore. It set out three steps: "Application - our team will review your application within 5 days", "A short Skills Assessment via Maki People", and "Final Interview - a 90 minute video interview with the hiring team". That was a fixed-term role outside the UK, so treat it as one example rather than the UK process.10
The four Wise values
- This isn't just a job, we're a revolution. "We're making a positive, important change in the world."11
- We get it done. "We break through walls to make amazing things happen."11
- Customers > team > ego. "We're working to create a better world for our customers – that's the whole point."11
- No drama. Good karma. "We start by assuming everyone has good intentions."11
These matter in the team interview, where Wise is "assessing for values fit". It also says "we assess candidates against agreed upon criteria".7
For support work specifically, Wise's Customer Support careers page stresses patience with delays, persistence in solving problems and staying calm when customers are frustrated.4 The expired Singapore listing asked for at least one year of customer-facing experience, preferably in fintech, banking, telecom or global contact centres. It also wanted fluent English with strong written and verbal skills, adaptability, comfort using AI prompting tools, and flexibility for morning, evening and weekend shifts.10
In a 2025 Wise careers blog, Ian Rynne says he "started my journey at Wise as a customer support agent when Wise was fewer than 400 people" and later moved into leadership. The blog says Wise expects "everyone who joins to make an impact early on."15
Questions to expect
Based on what Wise says each stage tests. These are practice questions we wrote, not questions Wise publishes.
Recruiter call
Walk me through your experience so far. What made you apply to Wise?
What do you know about Wise, and what do its customers use it for?
Why customer support, and what would you want to learn in this team?
Meet the team
A customer's money hasn't arrived and they're upset. How would you handle the conversation from the first message?
Tell me about a situation where you achieved impact for a customer or a team.
Which of the four Wise values means most to you, and when have you lived it?
You keep seeing the same complaint from different customers. What would you do with it?
A colleague handled a case in a way you think was wrong. How would you raise it?
Tell me about a problem you kept working on after the obvious fixes failed.
How to prepare
- Read the job description before the call. Wise's tip for the Recruiter call is "Remember to familiarise yourself with the job description and Wise."7
- Have your reason for applying ready. Wise says "we're curious about what's motivated you to apply to Wise" and recommends you "Take a look into our values and mission".7
- Bring one strong impact story. Wise says "We'd love to hear about a situation where you've achieved impact".7 For support, a case you resolved, or a fix that stopped a problem coming back, works well.
- Practise scenario answers out loud. The team interview uses scenario based questions to understand your decision making.7 Say what you'd check first, what you'd tell the customer, and when you'd escalate.
- Show calm and persistence. Wise's Customer Support page values patience with delays and staying calm when customers are frustrated.4 Pick an example where you did both.
- Prepare questions for the team. Wise's tip for the team interview: "Come prepared to answer more detailed questions about how your experience relates to the role. This is also your chance to ask questions."7
- Follow the AI rules. Live AI assistants or prompters in video interviews are prohibited, and fully AI-generated application answers are not permitted.9
Worth mentioning in the interview
- Wise debuted its US listing on Nasdaq (ticker WSE) on 11 May 2026, keeping a secondary listing on the London Stock Exchange.12 Its FY26 results describe it as "moving its primary listing from the London Stock Exchange" to Nasdaq.1
- Wise's FY26 results refer to "technology and AI solutions used by servicing teams", so be ready to talk about using tools alongside people.1
- A 28 July 2026 careers blog says the Quality function for Customer Support and Payment Operations is "moving from manual sampling to full-coverage, data-driven assessment" using pipelines and AI.14
- Recent launches include an international money transfer service in Chile on 21 July 2026 and a Chequing Account in Canada on 14 September 2026.13
