About Admiral

Admiral Group's registered office is Tŷ Admiral, Cardiff, and the Group operates in four countries: the UK, France, Italy and Spain. Its full year 2025 results refer to "15,000 brilliant colleagues". For the year to 31 December 2025, it reported profit before tax from continuing operations of £957.9m, up 16% from £826.5m in 2024, and turnover of £5.90bn. Group risks insured rose 7% to 11.8 million at the end of 2025.1

The same results say the UK business was listed as a Great Place to Work for the 25th consecutive year and achieved "Legendary Status".1 In the half-year report for the six months to 30 June 2026, group risks insured rose 5% to 12.03 million, and Group Chief Executive Officer Milena Mondini de Focatiis says Admiral now serves "more than 12 million customers".2

Admiral's Contact Centre careers page describes several teams. In New Business, "As the first person our customers speak to, you'll be guiding them through the buying journey". In Customer Value, "our goal is to save customers money and give them the best possible service along the way". In Customer Loyalty, "Most of the calls are inbound, where you'll be helping with renewals, offering tailored deals and finding the right solutions".3

The interview process

As Admiral's Contact Centre careers page describes it.3

Admiral's recruitment FAQ, which is undated, adds detail.4 So do two expired Cardiff listings, which each describe one vacancy. The first was a Customer Advisor role in the Customer Loyalty team, working on renewals, with a start date of 3 November 2025.5 The second was a Customer Sales Advisor role with a start date of 23 February 2026.6 Some points below also come from a March 2021 Admiral careers blog. That description dates from 2021 and may have changed.7

When we checked on 9 October 2026, the Contact Centre page said: "We are sorry but do not currently have any roles in this area."3

  1. Apply

"Submit your application and this will be reviewed by a member of the Talent Team."3 The FAQ calls this step the online application.4 The 2021 blog said of the application form that "we do want to see that you can empathise and listen to a customer."7

  2. Telephone interviewPhone

"If you're successful in your application, you will be invited to take part in a quick telephone interview. Here, we will be able to get to know a bit more about you."3 The FAQ says: "As you'll be working on the phone, this is your opportunity to show your fantastic phone manner".4 Both expired Cardiff listings described a "short phone interview where we will learn more about you and your communication skills".5, 6 The 2021 blog said this call "gives us a real sense of your phone manner" and "allows us to see that you can be professional in your home environment".7

  3. Meet & GreetRoughly four hours

"If you pass your telephone interview, you will be invited to join us for a Meet & Greet. Here, we will provide you with more information on the role, give you a good insight on the team and finish with a 1-2-1 interview."3 The FAQ says it is "held in one of our offices where you could be working" and "will take roughly four hours" and that "there's no screening in the meet and greets".4 The FAQ lists what it includes:

    • Department talk. "A talk from a Department Manager about their department and the role you're applying for".4
    • Company talk. "A talk from a Recruitment Officer all about the company, culture and benefits".4
    • Listening in. "Listening in to someone actually working in the position you're applying for".4
    • Interview. "A 121 interview."4
    • Timing. The expired Customer Sales Advisor listing noted: "Due to the Christmas period, our meet & greet sessions won't be taking place until the new year".6
    • In 2021. The 2021 blog said Meet and Greets were then run over Zoom, where "You will meet a department Team Manager, as well as someone who is currently doing the job". It also said "Not all of our departments are running Meet and Greets at the moment, so you may not get a chance to take part in one."7
  4. 1-2-1 or face-to-face interview1-2-1

The careers page says the Meet & Greet finishes with a 1-2-1 interview.3 The FAQ lists an interview step and says: "This isn't always the case, though for some roles, you'll meet your potential team leader or manager for a face-to-face interview."4 Both expired Cardiff listings ended with a face-to-face interview with the hiring team.5, 6 In 2021 the blog described the last stage as "an online meeting with two members of staff": "someone from the department you've applied to and a Recruitment Officer".7

  5. Offer

"If you have been successful, we will contact you to offer you a position and talk you through the next steps and what to expect before you join us."3 The FAQ says "we are required by law to make document checks on every potential new employee" and that "you may be asked to complete a CRB check."4

The expired Customer Advisor listing said "You'll chat with our customers over the phone each day", that the role was full time, and that "your time will be split between home and the office." It said: "Besides a base salary of £24,636.15, there's also the chance to earn monthly incentives."5 The expired Customer Sales Advisor listing gave the same base salary and the chance to earn monthly incentives.6

What Admiral looks for

The Contact Centre page says: "If you love talking to others, solving problems and making someone's day a little easier, this could be the place for you."3 For Customer Value, it adds "You don't need to have all the answers on day one" and "We've got a personalised development plan just for you."3

Under "This role could be for you if…", the expired Customer Advisor listing gave this list.5

  • "You're passionate about providing great service to our customers"
  • "You've got strong communication skills"
  • "You enjoy being a team player"
  • "You're motivated and target driven"
  • "You're eager to learn & develop"
  • "You can show resilience- even when calls get challenging".5

The expired Customer Sales Advisor listing asked for the same quality in its own words: "You are resilient- even when calls get challenging".6 The 2021 blog said that in the final interview "we want to see evidence that you can demonstrate the empathy, kindness and resilience".7

An October 2022 Admiral careers blog names four transferable skills for contact centre jobs: engaged, communication, motivated and supportive. It says "most of our roles don't require any specific experience", "What we look for is the perfect mix of skills" and "We look for people who we know will live our values every day".8 It also says "Communication skills are golden in our Contact Centre roles" and "You need to show customers that you're actively listening to them".8

A June 2023 infographic post by Talent Acquisition Manager Ben Moriarty names skills for a contact centre career, including "hone your listening skills", "learn how to anticipate needs", "embrace technology" and "mastering effective communication".9

Admiral's culture page says "We prioritise doing what's right: for customers, for each other, and beyond" and describes an "open, honest, and low-ego culture". It names four pillars: Communication, Equality, Reward & Recognition, and Fun.10

Questions to expect

Based on what Admiral says each stage tests. These are practice questions we wrote, not questions Admiral publishes.

Telephone interview

Tell me a little about yourself and what has led you to apply for a contact centre role.

Which of our teams, New Business, Customer Value or Customer Loyalty, appeals to you most, and why?

Talk me through a conversation where you had to explain something clearly to someone who was confused.

Meet & Greet 1-2-1

You listened in to a call today. What did the advisor do well, and what would you try to copy?

Tell me about a time you stayed calm and kind when someone was difficult with you.

Describe a moment when you worked out what someone needed before they asked.

How do you show a customer that you're really listening to them on the phone?

Face-to-face interview, where it happens

Tell me about a target or goal you worked towards. How did you keep yourself motivated?

A customer calls to cancel because they've found a cheaper quote. How would you handle the call?

Tell me about a time you helped a colleague or teammate who was struggling.

What would you want to learn in your first few months with us?

How to prepare

  1. Keep notes in front of you on the call. The 2021 blog advised: "Print out the job advert, take some notes, and keep them in front of you during the call."7
  2. Treat the phone interview as a sample of the job. Admiral's FAQ calls the telephone interview your opportunity to show your phone manner.4 Speak clearly, let the interviewer finish, and pick a spot where you can sound professional at home.
  3. Learn the teams before you go. Know the difference between New Business, Customer Value and Customer Loyalty, so you can say which suits you and why.
  4. Use the listening-in time. The Meet & Greet includes listening to someone doing the job.4 Note what the advisor says and does, as it gives you real material for the 1-2-1.
  5. Bring examples of resilience and empathy. Prepare short stories about a hard conversation you handled, a time you hit a target, and a time you helped someone who was upset.
  6. Research the role and take your time. The 2021 blog advised: "Make sure you've done enough research to demonstrate you understand the role" and "Don't be afraid to take some time to answer the question".7
  7. Dress for the job. The FAQ says: "Think about what to wear for your interview and dress for the job". If unsure, "go smarter - it's always better to be over rather than underdressed."4
  8. Have your documents ready. The FAQ mentions document checks for every potential new employee and says you may be asked to complete a CRB check.4

Worth mentioning in the interview

  • Flock. Admiral Group announced on 1 June 2026 that it had completed its acquisition of Flock, a digital commercial fleet insurance provider, in a deal valuing Flock's equity at £80m. It said Flock CEO Ed Leon Klinger would join the leadership team of Admiral Pioneer.11
  • Half-year results. For the six months to 30 June 2026, Admiral reported profit before tax from continuing operations of £429.2m, down 18% from £521.0m in H1 2025. UK Motor profit was £456.9m (H1 2025: £559.3m).2
  • Dividend and shares. The half-year report declared an interim dividend of 70.5p per share, down 39% from 115.0p, plus a £45.0m share buyback. It also says over 13,000 employees will each receive free share awards worth up to £1,800.2
  • Shares for staff. The Contact Centre page says: "Every single person, across every role and every department, automatically qualifies to be an Admiral shareholder after 12 months of working here, with a free share allocation of up to £3,600 each year."3
  • Finance leadership. The full year 2025 results (5 March 2026) said Geraint Jones would retire as Group CFO and that Rachel Lewis, then CFO for UK Insurance, would become Group CFO on 1 July 2026.1
