About Center Parcs

Center Parcs' careers site lists six villages: Whinfell Forest in the Lake District, Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire, Longleat Forest in Wiltshire, Woburn Forest, Elveden Forest and Longford Forest in Ireland.1 Its head office, Forest House, "supports our six villages across the UK and Ireland".1

In the 52 weeks ended 23 April 2026, the group headed by Center Parcs (Holdings 1) Limited reported revenue of £666.9 million, against £649.8 million in FY25, and EBITDA of £284.5 million, excluding adjusted items.2 Occupancy for the period was 97.4%, and there were 4,347 units of accommodation at 23 April 2026.2

The careers site sorts village team roles into six groups: Hospitality Hero, Culinary Master, Activity Adventurer, Life Saver, Cleaning Champion and Grounds Guardian.1 The Team Member Roles page lists jobs in Food, Beverage & Retail, Housekeeping, Leisure and Aqua Sana Forest Spa, from Front of House Team Member and Kitchen Porters to Lifeguard and Beauty Therapist.3 The Application Journey page says most positions are permanent because the villages operate year-round, and that Center Parcs occasionally recruits for seasonal or fixed-term roles, advertised under "Job Search".4

The recruitment process

Center Parcs' recruitment privacy policy sets out these steps, in order.5 Detail on each step comes from its careers pages and individual job listings.

  1. Register for an account

The policy's first step is registering for an account and job alerts.5 Internal candidates apply through the "Careers" section of their Dayforce account.4

  2. Online application

The policy says the application asks for your skills (education, professional qualifications and training), employment history and referees, previous salary and start date, eligibility to work in the UK or Ireland, details of un-spent criminal convictions, and information on safeguarding practices and working with children.5

    • Contracted hours. The Bar and Waiting Team Member listing says: "Please state your desired contracted hours from the options above under the suitability section of your application form."6
    • Automated screening. The policy says Center Parcs "may use your personal data in automated decision making".5 For example, a candidate who lacks a required full driving licence, or who must enter water "but cannot swim to the required standard", "may be automatically declined" and not shortlisted for interview.5 You can ask for a human review.5
    • Closing early. Job listings say a "vacancy may close at any time once sufficient applications have been received".6
  3. Interview

The policy says that at interview Center Parcs records "Notes about your interview and appraising your performance".5 It uses them "to assess any information provided by you in your interview against the essential and desirable criteria".5 The Bar and Waiting listing says some roles may require applicants to be over 18, which "will be discussed at interview".6

    • Interview dates on listings. The Bar and Waiting listing at Elveden Forest and the Watersports listing at Whinfell Forest both gave interviews as "Ongoing".6, 7 The fixed-term Retail Team Member listing at Sherwood Forest closed on 19 September 2025, with interviews on 29 September 2025.8
  4. Post interview

The policy lists a post-interview step after the interview.5

  5. Hire and offer

Next comes Hire and Offer, which the policy pairs with a Pre-Hire Questionnaire.5

  6. Pre-employment checks

A third party, First Advantage, carries out the checks: Right to Work and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks in the UK, and Identity Checking in Ireland.5 They happen "after a conditional offer of employment", which is subject to satisfactory results.5

Some roles and recruitment routes add their own steps.

  • Lifeguards. For qualified lifeguards, the Team Member Roles page says "Already a qualified Lifeguard? Great, apply straight away!" For those not yet qualified, it says "Full training and NPLQ certification is provided if you pass the swim test."3
  • Recruitment open days. A listing for a Housekeeper / Cleaner Recruitment Open Day at Longleat Forest, on Thursday 2 July 2026 from 10am to 2pm, said attendees could meet the team and learn about life at Center Parcs, the roles and career progression.9 It said suitable candidates may be interviewed on the day, and candidates could register interest or attend without applying in advance.9
  • Longford Forest open days. A Longford Forest Recruitment Open Day listing, for open days on 3 to 5 September 2025 in Longford, Ballymahon, Mullingar and Athlone, offered on-the-spot interviews for suitable candidates.10 It recruited bar and waiting team members, lifeguards, chefs, entry-level kitchen roles, beauty therapists, housekeepers and cleaners, and leisure outdoor instructors.10
  • Adjustments. Job listings say Center Parcs is a Disability Confident Employer and offers reasonable adjustments on request during the application or interview process.6 If a disability stops you completing the online application, the Application Journey page says you can email recruitment.team@centerparcs.co.uk, and the team will coordinate with the relevant location's HR department to discuss adjustments.4

What Center Parcs looks for

Village job listings, including Bar and Waiting Team Member, Watersports Team Member and Retail Team Member, say: "We place a lot of value on recruiting based on behaviours rather than prioritising qualifications or experience."6

The criteria on individual listings show which behaviours matter for each job.

  • Bar and Waiting Team Member, Elveden Forest. Customer-facing experience is "ideal but not essential". The listing looks for good communication skills, a patient and friendly nature, a passion for great customer service and enjoying teamwork.6
  • Watersports Team Member, Whinfell Forest. Essential criteria were good communication skills, previous customer service experience, a friendly and warm manner, and teamwork.7
  • Retail Team Member, Sherwood Forest. Essential criteria were the ability to build relationships with colleagues and guests, being naturally cheerful, and being patient and friendly.8
  • Front of House Team Member. The Team Member Roles page says no experience is needed, and the role calls for people skills, confidence and the ability to work under pressure.3

Center Parcs' purpose is "We build better worlds". It has four values.11

  • We care. "We care about and do the right thing for our guests, colleagues, the environment and our communities".11
  • We're brave. "To stay unique, we are always open to change".11
  • We're determined. "We're proud of what makes us special and are determined to keep it that way".11
  • We're naturally us. "We accept everyone and celebrate our individuality, our character and our differences".11

Questions to expect

Based on what Center Parcs says each stage tests: behaviours, and the essential and desirable criteria on your listing.6, 5 These practice questions are ours, not Center Parcs'.

Interview

Talk us through a time a guest or customer was unhappy. What did you do, and how did it end?

Describe a moment when you kept calm and patient with someone who was frustrated.

Give an example of pulling together with others to get a busy shift finished.

How would you make a family feel welcome on the first day of their break?

Which of our four values means most to you, and can you give an example of it?

When did you do the right thing for someone even though it took extra effort?

Tell us about a change at work or school that you had to adapt to quickly.

Practical questions

Which contracted hours are you looking for, and how do they fit with your other commitments?

How will you travel to the village for your shifts?

Is there anything we should know about your availability on changeover days?

Recruitment open day

What drew you to housekeeping work at Center Parcs?

How do you keep your standards high when you are working to a tight deadline?

What would you like to learn about career progression here?

How to prepare

  1. Work from your listing's criteria. The privacy policy says information you give at interview is assessed against the essential and desirable criteria.5 List each criterion on your listing and pick one real example for it.
  2. Lead with behaviour, not your CV. Listings say Center Parcs places a lot of value on recruiting based on behaviours rather than prioritising qualifications or experience.6 Stories from school, sport, caring for family or volunteering can show patience, friendliness and teamwork just as well as a past job.
  3. Match a story to each value. Have a short example ready for We care, We're brave, We're determined and We're naturally us.11
  4. Choose your hours before you apply. The Bar and Waiting listing asks you to state your desired contracted hours under the suitability section of the application form.6 Know what you can commit to.
  5. Sort out your travel. The Application Journey page says bus transport is provided for Housekeeping team members working Mondays and Fridays or early mornings, while other roles need their own transport. Accommodation is not provided as part of employment.4
  6. Apply promptly. Listings say a vacancy may close at any time once sufficient applications have been received.6
  7. Go to an open day if one is near you. At the Longleat Forest open day, candidates could attend without applying in advance, and suitable candidates may be interviewed on the day.9 Go ready to interview.
  8. Get your documents in order. Pre-employment checks include Right to Work and DBS checks in the UK, and Identity Checking in Ireland, after a conditional offer.5
